The Knights took on the Rams and were able to beat them for the first time in recent memory. The Knights played indefatigable defense and posted their second shutout of the season. Adriana Hernandez swept away every through-ball and Thea Nicholson, Marianna Moreau, and Kelly Frank kept the Rams from entering the penalty area with control of the ball. Mercedes Alvarado stymied the central midfield with persistent defense and then was able to create opportunities for her teammates to possess the ball on the wing. The outside midfielders plugged away and pushed the ball down the wing to the forwards to create a few scoring chances, as Rockville’s defense did not give up many. The winning goal was scored by Yasmiin Barrow as she toe-poked the ball through the Rockville Keeper’s legs after a centering pass from Caroline Ganchozo.
